In the News
Kent Displays Receives Award from the United States Army Research Laboratory.
The United States Army Research Laboratory for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) has awarded Kent Displays a contract to develop a "Self-Powered Cholesteric Reflective Flexible Display". KDI will build and characterize a Cholesteric Liquid Crystal Display (ChLCD) on a flexible plastic substrate with integrated solar cell array and battery. The solar cell array will replace the conventional ChLCD glass substrate that is typically painted black or blue enabling the display to collect solar energy. The ability to collect solar energy and charge an internal battery will allow the development of a self-powered display. Under certain operating conditions, such as during periods of bright sunlight and infrequent updates, the display module will have the potential to generate power for ancillary devices. For further information contact sales.
